French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the best one. We looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

As the name suggests, the GE Profile series is geared towards those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. This refrigerator is packed with them, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a smart water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs an extra amount, I'd like to see higher quality.

This fridge is a great choice, despite the blip. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Furthermore, it can hold a decent amount of frozen food as compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment has 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on the same as a French door fridge that costs this much. It has a decent-sized freezer in the left side. However, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create custom storage setup for whatever you have to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is good-looking, too. The LED lighting adds an attractive accent. The bins for storage inside have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, however I found their textured plastic coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and it has many options for customizing. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill which is an option that is available in other GE fridges that allow you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense simultaneously. The fridge displays a countdown timer to display how much water is left however it's not as useful as Precise Fill.

This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for various reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never fluctuated by more than a fraction, this is crucial to prevent freezing burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also did well. It reached the initial temperature within an hour, and remained at the temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is known for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that the Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's Home Connect. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is expensive, but it comes with top-quality features and functions for the price.

While the fridge is a fantastic appliance, it's important to know the limitations. You may need to get creative with tall objects because the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves are also not impervious to spills and could easily be damaged or stained by sharp items. It is easy to take out the refrigerator trays, but be sure to clean them regularly to prevent mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great option for those who require a lot of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features an ordinary french door fridge with water dispenser inside-door design with gallon-sized door bins on each door, two rows of shelves for spill-capture, and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. You'll also find a full width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

One of the great features of this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, making it simple to move the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, for instance, sliding drawers that can help you better organize the placement of items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate container for ice.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people struggle to close them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had handles mounted on the front.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with an efficient design. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a bit cheaper than the most expensive counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire french door fridge lock door refrigerator is a good option for those looking for a french style fridge freezer sale-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a simple fridge that may not be as appealing as its rivals however, it does have enough features to make a an excellent choice. Its main feature is the temperature adjustable drawer which helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser and a decent ice maker that operates quickly.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is a great feature. This drawer lets you divert a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can put away food items that need extra attention. You can adjust this feature by using a slider that's located right outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling setting for the entire fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the generic settings tends to be more effective than specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a great performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is made of grey-bodied stainless steel that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
