If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing is a bit tricky because there are two pins for the connector and they have different functions but the best method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was unclean. When i crank the engine with no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I got 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The replacement audi car key is able to start if the G28 is unplugged and is running fine when it is connected however it is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.
I'm not certain what to do, but i think i've pretty much ruled out everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!
