If this sensor fails, the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It is a little tricky to test because there are several pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this component.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors aren't firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was unclean. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car can start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is connected but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.
I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor.
