Basic white girls, hyperactive tweens, Comic-Con cosplayers, and Bronies rejoice: Unicorns have completely saturated the food scene.

In fact, New York City restaurants have become so unicorn-friendly that it's possible to go an entire day eating only unicorn-themed food.

So I, possibly nursing a death wish, did just that: I planned a magical menu packed with a day's worth of unicorn food and drink that I would chow down on exclusively to see if it was really like dining on a rainbow.

Magical brew: I ate only unicorn-themed food in New York City for a whole day, starting with the Unicorn Latte (pictured)

Top of the trend: The latte went viral when The End in Brooklyn began selling it (in fact, it earned so much attention that the spot's now suing Starbucks for copying them)

Not so sweet: This 'latte' is made with E3 live blue green algae, lemon, wildflower honey, cayenne, vanilla bean, and coconut milk and mostly tastes like lemon and honey

In retrospect, the heavy rain in New York as I set out on Monday morning was a warning. My food plan may have spanned the ROY-G-BIV spectrum, but there would be no real-life rainbows today.

I started at The End, a café in Williamsburg that helped ring in the current craze with its Unicorn Latte ($9).

The name 'latte', though, is a bit misleading, since the drink doesn't actually have any espresso in it. It's made with 'E3 live blue green algae', a cold lemon tonic mixed with wildflower honey and cayenne, vanilla bean extract, and coconut milk. It's then topped off with pomegranate and goji powder and vegan sprinkles.

It certainly looked pretty. The warm blue drink has been an Instagram hit for a reason, and the café promises the picture-perfect concoction will 'bring out your most mystical, magical self'.

Flavor-wise, it was clear this would be the least sweet order of the day — it really just tasted like lemon and honey.

Nom nom: For breakfast I ate the Unicorn Bagel at the Bagel Store in Brooklyn

Sprinkle central: The shop made it extra magical with confetti cream cheese and sprinkles

It's a plain bagel with swirls of color and can be eaten with any type of cream cheese, but getting that full unicorn impact means choosing something sweet

The colorful bagels are really popular — but also pricey at nearly $4 each

The shop also has a cotton candy bagel and a 'bedazzled' bagel with sprinkles

From there I walked down the road to the Bagel Store, which earned internet fame in late 2015 for its rainbow bagel. Since then, the shop's kept experimenting, turning out lots of different multicolored versions.

The Unicorn Bagel ($3.95 with flavored cream cheese) is really just a plain, chewy bagel colored with white, purple, teal, and pink swirls.

I asked the guy behind the counter to full-on unicorn it up, so he slathered on some rainbow confetti cream cheese and dipped the insides in rainbow sprinkles.

The thing about the unicorn food trend is that it's mostly sugar-fueled, so this bagel was my most substantial meal of the day. And still, I only got through about two thirds of it, brushing off most of the sprinkles.

Adorable! Molly's Cupcakes in the West Village just debuted a Unicorn cupcake

The insides are rainbow and the frosting has a unicorn design, with ears and a horn made of fondant

In the afternoon, I stopped in at Molly's Cupcakes in the West Village. They'd just debuted an adorable new Unicorn Cupcake ($4) that was set to be my lunch.

The cake itself had a tie-dye rainbow thing going on, with red, orange, yellow, and blue food coloring.

On top was the head of a unicorn, made of frosting and topped with a perfectly-shaped horn, glitter-brushed fondant ears, and sprinkles.

Easily one of my favorite foods of the day, this one was cute and delicious — not sickly sweet, but just as sugary as a cupcake should be.

For the tweens: American Eagle Outfitters in Times Square recently opened a café called Drink

There, I ordered the Pegasus Mocha, a milk drink with a white chocolate base that was super sweet — and what Starbucks' Unicorn Frappuccino should have tasted like

Customers pick a color (pink, purple, blue, green) and a flavor (cotton candy, strawberry, caramel, vanilla)

Photo spot: They're topped with sprinkles, and customers can also add gourmet marshmallows from Squish

A cupcake is not exactly a filling lunch, though, so next I headed to the American Eagle store in Times Square, where the new Drink café sells a Pegasus Mocha ($7.75).

After starting with a white chocolate milk base, the barista had me choose a color (I fully committed and picked pink) and a flavor (caramel). Other options included cotton candy, vanilla, and strawberry.

She decorated the whipped cream on top with a ton of colorful sprinkles and glitter and added two glitter-covered purple marshmallows on a stick.

The Pegasus Mocha was everything that the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino should have been — it was incredibly sweet, ridiculously pretty, and the kind of thing 13-year-old me would have loved.

Grown-up me, though, only got through about half (plus those marshmallows), before I had to move on with my life.

Shoulda listened: In the first Harry Potter movie, the centaur Firenze tells Harry about the dangers of drinking unicorn blood

He was talking about Voldemort trying to be immortal, but the advice works pretty well for foolish reporters eating too many unicorn desserts

I was ready to give up halfway through the day, but the unicorns — like the ones in the viral mid-00s clip that beckon Charlie to Candy Mountain — nudged me to go on

By 4pm, I was home to take a break — and let me tell you, my stomach did not feel magical.

The embodiment of Snapchat's puking rainbows filter, I lied in bed practically moaning, wondering how I was going to finish the sugary-sweet menu I'd planned out for the day.

As I whined to myself that I am definitely too old for this, I seriously considered giving up, telling myself this wasn't worth it — even for the noble sake of journalism.

In that moment, Firenze's warning to Harry Potter in Sorcerers Stone was ringing true: 'It is a terrible crime to slay a unicorn... from the moment the blood touches your lips, you will have a half life, a cursed life.'

I really should have listened to that centaur.

Truly magical: For dinner, I ordered the $20 Unicorn Cannoli from Gelso and Grand

It's made with a waffle cone shell, and one side is stuff with strawberry mascarpone cream with pieces of funfetti cake

The other side has a lavender blueberry cream and is dipped in white chocolate and coconut before being topped with lavender macarons

The enormous dessert is definitely mean to be split, so I only had a few bites — but it was delicious

But after a rest, the unicorns beckoned me once again. 'Hey Carly, wake up,' they said. 'Come to candy mountain, Carly. It'll be an adventure.'

Still craving some unicorn Tums, I headed out for dinner at Gelso and Grand in Little Italy later that evening. Tonight was not a night for pasta, 해머캔디 한국 공식 총판 though — I was there to try the restaurant's Unicorn Cannoli ($20).

I was glad I didn't skip it — this was easily the most over-the-top, masterfully-crafted treat of the day.

Made with a hand-rolled waffle cone instead of a traditional shell, this cannoli could have easily fed two to four people.

One side was filled with a lavender blueberry cream with graham cracker, while the other end was stuffed with strawberry mascarpone cream with chunks of funfetti cake.

I intended to finish the day with this Unicorn Parade milkshakes from New Territories — but while I'm sure it's tasty, I couldn't stomach one more thing

Macaron Parlour, which has two NYC locations, occasionally sells limited-edition unicorn macarons as well (though I didn't get to try them)

Each side was dipped in white chocolate and covered in either coconut or sprinkles, and the top was garnished with lavender macaroons, more funfetti cake, and 24k edible gold dust.  They included a hammer to break it open.

As visually stunning and truly tasty as it was, though, I could only eat a few bites from either end by myself before packing up the leftovers.

And ultimately, I decided to skip my last stop altogether. I'd planned to finish the day with the Unicorn Parade milkshakes from New Territories on the Lower East Side, but literally everything inside of me was telling me this was a bad, bad idea. My stomach was closed for unicorn business.

In the end, I learned a very important lesson: Just because it CAN be done does not mean it SHOULD be done.
